Lisle Corporation in Clarinda Iowa is recruiting for a highly motivated and talented Design Engineer.

This full time position will be responsible for the design and development of new product or improvements to existing products for a leader in the innovation and manufacturing of specialty automotive repair tools and its two divisions: OEM Products and Dunham Tools.

 

Primary duties include but not limited to:

• Develop new products

  • Identify potential new products

    • Review ideas submitted from mechanics through Idea Program

    • Review competitive products available for possible improvements/cost reductions

    • Work with Sales Department for specific product requests from customers

  • Develop concepts and information necessary to provide product definition

    • Prepare 3d models and 2d drawings utilizing CAD Software:

      • PTC Creo

      • PTC Creo Elements/Direct

      • or other CAD software

  • Work with tool-room/model shop to develop working prototypes

  • Develop test methods and procedures to test and develop prototypes

  • Conduct evaluations of prototype products with mechanics/technicians input

  • Estimate costs to produce new products

    • Work with manufacturing engineering department to determine production methods

    • Work with purchasing department and outside suppliers to determine costs for products/services

    • Work with time study department to determine production standards

  • Work to protect IP by assisting to obtain Patents on ideas when needed

• Provide sales and product support

  • Work with Graphics Department to develop advertising/marketing information

  • Develop applicable instructions for new products

  • Evaluate products for safe use

  • Attend product shows

  • Provide technical phone support for products

  • Investigate potential product improvement for existing products

  • Investigate potential cost reduction methods for existing products

• Assist as necessary with product development for other divisions of Lisle Corporation

• Other duties as assigned.
